"My aim here is mainly to set up a contrast between the narcissistic tendencies of technology and the problem of actual love. My friend Alice Sebold likes to talk about “getting down in the pit and loving somebody.” She has in mind the dirt that love inevitably splatters on the mirror of our self-regard."

"Read the New York Times piece, “What Is It About 20-Somethings?” Feel exposed and humiliated. Share it on your Facebook with the caption: “Um….” Your friends will comment “Too real” and that will be the end of that."

A few excellent articles.
North By Northwestern catches some purple streakers in the act, and then, a commenter makes her case as to why streakers (and other stuff) made her choose NU. Purple pride. I have it.
Ad Age explains, really really convincingly, what your taste in beer says about you. It is so dead on about me: “For instance, people who prefer domestic beers over craft beers or imports are generally middle of the road in their politics… People who drink a broad portfolio of beers are different than one-brand drinkers as well. Those “indifferent” beer drinkers are more open-minded and emotional people who enjoy a variety of life experiences.” Uh, yeah.
And finally, the NY Times talks about cell phones, texts and lovers, or dating in the age of text messaging. This article reminds of the time I asked my dad where he thought I should be meeting guys to date, and he told me to join a “social club.” And I wasn’t even sure what that was. I think our generation really is missing out on some social guidance.

“Most Americans love Barack Obama personally, but support for Democratic policies is already sliding fast.”
A touch alarmist, but some truth there.

"There is really no drinking half as enjoyable as daytime drinking, when the sun is out, the bars are empty of dilettantes, and the afternoon stretches ahead of you like summer vacation."
