Pretty enough to be a model, and yet became a Youtube sensation with two pretty cool songs and videos. Check it out.
“Blue Jeans” has a kind of Chris Isaak “Wicked Games” vibe to it if you ask me.
Also, shout out to The Band’s Last Waltz with that clip of the guy at the beginning.
Hat tip to Marcus’s Facebook feed. Here’s her website.
Aloe Blacc, vs. Seth Avett, vs. (…throwback!) Gavin Degraw
He probably wins in the closest-to-the-real-deal department, and best falsetto.
Seth made this video to promote his piano, which he was auctioning off to benefit abused women and children. So, winning.
There isn’t a high quality live version of this, but he is pretty undeniable. I wonder what he is up to these days.
Who do you like?
Except Iron Chef. Battle Zucchini. Duh.
Lykke Li singing “Little Bit” on the beach in Bermuda with a guitarrista who looks just like David Bowie. Sounds awesome with the ocean in the background. Lykke Li makes me want to be weirder and cooler. Crackerfarm just always delivers.
From the same label that launched The Avett Brothers we now have Sam Quinn and the Japan Ten. Quinn used to be half of The Everybodyfields. Although his beard rather disturbs me, I enjoyed this tuner. Reminds me of Damien Rice and Closer. The fiddler’s panty-line is so unfortunate.
And then there’s this Tegan and Sara song that I can’t stop listening to. This band always is right on my borderline of love and suicide-if-I-have-to-hear-it-again. It’s easier for me to listen to if I don’t have to look at the little lesbielves. But… this video is kinda cool.
Goofy as he is, Gabe Dixon does this stop motion thing better.
Enough!
Scott Avett singing a Merle Haggard tune. Love this, no surprise. But I’ve also never heard this Merle Haggard song before and I just think it’s grrrrrreat.
“Nightdogs” sung by Stu of The Love Language, courtesy of the good doctor, Andy Wright.
“Shout” done by The Shangri-Las, who were apparently the bad girls of the girl group scene. My intern sent this my way, and I just find it really mesmerizing. The main girl seems like a bad ace.
