Introducing Man Eats Local
My brother-in-law, a Denver dad of two and owner of In Season Local Markets, eats only from his own market and blogs about it at the link above. All of the food is from a 250-mile radius, it’s all ethically grown and traceable, most (all?) of it is organic, and a lot of it is gluten-free. Eating only seasonal food from the Denver area obviously poses some challenges.
Read because: His kids are cute (okay, I’m biased), there are good food ideas, and he’s just funny. And you can always make fun of his spelling.
Check it out, even if you aren’t from CO!

This multimedia message was downright mean, Allison.
She found a replacement for a Savage’s St. Patrick’s Day sugar cookie. I have yet to find one. Maybe I’ll go check in Starbucks, just in case.

The market’s shelves, fully stocked.
Artisan bread made from locally grown wheat flour. Peach cider that, let me tell you, tastes delicious mixed with bourbon. From The Weekly Veggie’s coverage of In Season. I can’t wait to get back to Denver!

What I did with my weekend in Denver.
Helped my brother in law open his local market! I am so proud of how the opening went, and I am so glad we got to eat some of the food on sale for dinner. It was GOOD. Have you tried Lion’s Mane mushrooms? You should, immediately.
Missing Denver already. How much does a market clerk make? I could probably subsist.

Thanks to Jen for snapping the pic, we all know that Lady GaGa went to Kuma’s yesterday. Love it. A year ago this became one of my favorite places :)
(too bad the service sucks and the wait is horrible)
Wonder if they’ll name a burger after her?
Kuma plus Gaga would make me a pretty happy person.

Tonight feels like a Bourbon Fudge Brownie night.
Can I get that recipe?
Ingredients
1/4 c. decent bourbon
1/4 c. + 1/4 c. semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/3 c. sugar
6 tbsp soft butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
Bring bourbon to boil in a saucepan, remove from heat, mix in 1/4 cup chips until smooth.
Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
In mixing bowl, mix together butter and sugar, add vanilla and eggs, combine well.
Add flour mixture, bourbon mixture, and 1/4 cup chip to mixing bowl, mix until just combined.
Pack into greased 9x9 baking dish.
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
Score. This will be perfect for an Alabama Thanksgiving/tailgate.
